With numerous game species, hiking trails and 360 -degree views over the landscape around Windhoek, Trustco offers something truly unique. For the adventurer, the team player, the romantic or the outdoorsy personality, the facilities at Trustco are sure to please. The professional staff puts together packages to suit every need, making sure that the spirit of an ever-giving country has touched everyone who leaves. From corporate clients to groups of friends, Trustco is a popular spot to let your hair down.
Early morning or afternoon pick-ups are arranged through the Litumba Shanty Shuttle. Guests are collected from a number of accommodation establishments in Windhoek. First stop is the Shanty Town, located in the informal settlements northwest of the city. Here visitors are introduced to the locals and their culture, with traditional song and dances that are performed at a local shebeen. Lunch is served in the Litumba Bush restaurant, where scrumptious meals are served in a unique African setting. Visitors then spend two hours at the Trustco Adventures premises with numerous activities from which to choose.
One of the most popular activities is the Quad Bike Tours, with three different options and routes. The Bush Drive is a quick 30-minute scenic tour around the base of the Auas Mountains, while the Mountain Gorge Drive gives one more time to explore mountains and bush in a one-hour trip, with a panoramic view over the landscape around Windhoek. The Game Drive trip is a one-hour tour, starting from the base of the Auas Mountains, in search of Kudu, Giraffe, Warthog, Springbok and a lot more.
For those keen to explore the breathtaking surroundings on a mountain bike, two tours can be arranged. The unguided mountain bike route is a unique opportunity to personally experience the incomparable scenic highlands of Windhoek on routes that are specially selected by the staff. Following the instructions on a user-friendly map and markers along the route, mountain bikers can explore the bush and possibly spot some game. The route offers splendid views over the landscape and some adrenalin-inducing downhill challenges. Guided mountain bike tours are also available, with an experienced guide to lead bikers through the pristine bush with detailed explanations and stories of footprints, vegetation and game that may be encountered.
While some may prefer to venture into the bushveld on a mountain bike, others prefer to go on foot for a more intimate experience of nature. Unguided hikes are made easier through the use of a map and markers, while the guided hikes are rewarding in their own right because of the knowledge of the experienced guides.
The Auas Mountain 4x4 Drive transport guests to the Litumba Lapa that winks alluringly from the very top. The winding route up to the mountain, 7200 ft above sea level, is definitely not for the faint-hearted, but the 360-degree view from the lapa is well worth a few anxious moments. Watching the sun disappearing over the mountains and the lights going on in the capital of Namibia provides a moment of pure tranquillity.
The day is concluded with a traditional braai or a hearty meal at Litumba Restaurant, the latest addition to the Trustco package. The restaurant offers a true African dining experience with rustic décor, traditional dancers and sumptuous meals.
Trustco Adventures is ideal for team building, a quick getaway or a way to get in touch with nature. Corporate teams leave with a feeling of camaraderie; nature-lovers leave with a newfound respect for Mother Nature, and everyone leaves with new stories to share. It is a place that uplifts the spirit, soothes the soul and leaves deep footprints in the heart. |
